Cast for Conservation© Fly-Fishing Event
Friday, July 20th – Saturday, July 21st, 2012
The Pere Marquette Watershed Council invites you to join us for our Annual Cast for Conservation© Fly-Fishing Event, Friday, July 20th and Saturday, July 21st, 2012. An opportunity of a lifetime, this tournament combines the excitement of fishing a “blue-ribbon trout stream” with a professional fishing guide while contributing to the continued conservation of the watershed.
The event will begin at noon Friday with a picnic lunch at the Flint Rainbow Club followed by 6-8 hours of catch and release guided float fishing down the Pere Marquette River ending at midnight. At the lunch each team will draw a fishing guide’s name. That guide will then draw for the section of the river to be fished. The tournament is based on the number and size of trout caught with any selection of artificial flies during the fishing period. Utilizing the expertise of your professional guide is always encouraged. Scorecards are turned into PMWC for official tallies.
Each team, fishing guide and their guests are invited to the PMWC’s Annual Banquet planned for the following evening – Saturday, July 21st at the Lincoln Hills Golf Club, in Ludington. Results of the tournament will be announced along with the award of trophies for the most points (combination of most and largest fish caught) and the largest Brown Trout caught.
All fishermen and women are invited, and both novice teams and experienced fly casters are welcome. Teams consist of two fishing partners who make a $600 combined donation to PMWC.
The professional fishing guides, members of the Michigan River Guides Association, donate their services for this yearly event, to which PMWC is extremely grateful. Other goods and services are obtained at complimentary or reduced pricing making your donation stretch even further. Included in your donation for an afternoon/evening of fishing is lunch, a commemorative C4C hat, One-Year PMWC Membership and Banquet dinner and drink tickets for the fishing partners. Guests are asked to purchase dinner tickets to help offset rising costs of the banquet meal. Reservations will be taken for the first ten (10) teams on a first come-first served basis. Every attempt will be made to make arrangements for additional teams, but cannot be guaranteed.
Proceeds from this Cast for Conservation© Event will be used to continue fish habitat and stream restoration programs in the Pere Marquette Watershed.
