Minutes of the 37th Annual Business Meeting July 14, 2007 Ramada of Ludington, Ludington, MI

Administrative 1. The 2007 business meeting was called to order by President Fred McLane at 7:32 p.m.

2. Attendance: Jay Barnhart, Paul Bigford, Jim Bos, Jeff Carpenter, Rick Conney, Jill Engelman, Dave Gibbs, Fred McLane, Jim Schramm, Dick Schwikert, Tom Seroczynski and Chuck Turk. Excused: Steve Fraley & Kevin Morlock

3. Secretary Jill Engelman expressed appreciation to all the Cast for Conservation© co-chairmen Tom Curtin and Steve Fraley, C4C participants, the guides- Mike Batche, Jory Dirkse, Brandon Drew, Walt Grau, Tom Johnson, Tommy Lynch, John Matson, Geoff Sturgell and Brad Turner, the Flint Rainbow Club, M37 Meat Shack, Park & Lynne Smith, Tom and Chris Johnson, Martin Downy, Fred McLane, Dick Schwikert and others who donated time and materials to making the 2007 C4C a success. She also thanked the following for their involvement in the set-up of the Annual Banquet – Fred & Mary McLane, Dick & Lu Schwikert, Laura Bos, Jeremy and Jeffrey Bos, Jeff Carpenter and Dave Gibbs. Acknowledgements were also made to those listed on the reverse side of the Banquet Program for their donations.

4. President Fred McLane thanked Dave Gibbs, Jim Schramm, Carolyn Henne and Ken Sink for their past involvement on the Board of Directors. Dave Gibbs and Jim Schramm, whose terms were to expire in 2007, withdrew their names from consideration for new terms on the Board and Carolyn Henne and Ken Sink submitted resignations during the past year.

5. President Fred McLane read a letter from Dave Gibbs, Chairman of the Nominating Committee: “The terms of six directors expire in July 2007: Jay Barnhart, Dave Gibbs, Kevin Morlock, Jim Schramm, Tom Seroczynski and Chuck Turk. The Nominating Committee has submitted the following slate of candidates for new terms to the Board of Directors: Clint Anderson, Jay Barnhart, Eric Lewis, Kevin Morlock, Tom Seroczynski and Chuck Turk.” The President asked if there were any nominations from the floor; there were none. Director, Jim Bos moved the nominations be closed and a unanimous vote was cast for the slate of candidates: APPROVED by acclimation of the membership.

6. President Fred McLane noted that our organization consists of all volunteers who devote time and energy to the protection of the watershed. He introduced the officers and board of directors in attendance and they were acknowledged by the membership. Three new life members were recognized – Bill Penny, Marty Corson and David Hunting Jr. Bill Penny was awarded his life member certificate. The Secretary will forward the remaining certificates to the recipients.

7. Director Jim Bos presented the PMWC Excellence in Conservation Award to retired Osceola-Lake District Conservationist Ed Rivard. Ed had 32 years of service in the Pere Marquette River’s upper tributaries, notably the Middle Branch.

Director Dick Schwikert presented the PMWC Excellence in Conservation Award to Jim Haveman (in absentia) for his role in supervising the 1985-1996 Restoration Committee’s efforts to rehabilitate 174 serious erosions sites on the Pere Marquette River.

8. The business meeting was adjourned at 8:16 pm.
