If you would like to have a good time, learn more about the PM, meet some very friendly people, and help keep the river a great place to fish, you may want to think about participating in our annual Cast 4 Conservation. This is a good natured fishing contest where the river is the real winner. It is held every July in conjunction with our annual members’ meeting and banquet. While it is a fly fishing event, skill doesn’t really count for much. A fly rod, a sense of humor, and an interest in the resource are all that is required. Let’s face it,…mid-July in Michigan is not the best time for trout fishing, but this is a contest that lets you spend a day on the water with a competent guide, catch some trout, and wind up with a negative score in the final tally if you’re not careful! This is a contest where the river always wins.
An invitation, explanation, set of rules, and a schedule of events are listed below. Take a look. It is an opportunity for the time of your life.
This year’s Event will include a Friday noon Picnic Lunch followed by 6-8 hours of afternoon/evening Guided Float Fly-Fishing down the PereMarquetteRiver.
