Off Road Vehicles (ORVs)

The PMWC was an early advocate of adding feeder trails to the extensive network of state and federal ORV trails in Lake County to allow users to refuel and pick up supplies. However, as this process morphed towards opening almost all roads to ORVs by users as young as 12 years of age we became concerned about increased sedimentation at road/stream crossings, hill and bank climbing and the temptation to explore off-road onto state, federal and private lands.  We continue to see less-restrictive ORV use as a threat to the watershed, sustainable forestry certification, and private property (trespass) issues.  We are pleased that the Lake County ORV committee has taken these issues to heart and is working to minimize these concerns.
